In 16th century Scotland, innocent Lucia falls in love with her clan’s enemy. Forced by her brother into an arranged marriage to save the family from financial and political ruin, the distraught girl murders her husband on their wedding night. Donizetti’s Gothic masterpiece, based on Sir Water Scott’s The Bride of Lammermoor, is filled with thrilling vocal fireworks, including the glorious Sextet and opera’s greatest Mad Scene, which has made sopranos into legends!
